About Palo Pinto Ranch
Size & Location: 2,448 acres located in Kinney County, 6.5 miles west of Brackettville. 33 miles East of Acuna, Mexico, and 130 miles West of San Antonio, TX. The property has over 2 miles of frontage on Hwy 90.
General: One of the most outstanding combination hunting and live water ranches we have ever had for sale in South Texas. Several miles of Pinto Creek pass through the ranch. The creek is spring fed and crystal clear water. The creek is lined with hundreds of giant oak, pecan, and elm trees. Nice improvements include a rustic ranch house, guest house, irrigated fields, and several lakes.
Improvements: Improvements include an irrigation system which waters approximately 120 acres in Pecans and wildlife food plots. A newly upgraded rustic ranch home with five bedrooms, 4 baths, and a big open living and entertaining area adjacent to a large patio for entertaining and view of the creek bottom and pecan orchard. There is a nice matching guest house, equipment barn, and a new metal building for hunting vehicles. The entire property has been recently high game fenced and stocked with big genetic whitetail deer. The ranch also comes equipped with great deer blinds and feeders. Water: Pinto creek passes through the ranch for several miles. 50% of the creek is lined with a limestone rock bottom and the balance of the water is deep holes providing excellent fishing and duck habitat. There is a big concrete dam on the creek enhancing a beautiful swimming hole. The creek is spring fed and very permanent water. For irrigation, there are 135 acre feed of transferable water rights to pump out of Pinto Creek. In addition, there is a spring fed artesian water well with 8” casing, 1,187 feet deep that free flows an average of 850 gallons per minute year round. The artesian well is used to maintain multiple lakes and irrigate food plots on the ranch. There are also two windmills on the northwest and southwest corners of the property.
Vegetation: The ranch is a nice blend of premium South Texas high protein brush which is 90% virgin growth. There are thousands of big live oak, pecan, and elm trees up and down Pinto Creek. The heavy vegetation on this ranch makes you feel like the ranch is three times its actual size.
Wildlife: Hunting is outstanding. The ranch supports a very large turkey population and the dove and quail hunting is outstanding. There are some exotics on the ranch including fallow, axis, and blackbuck antelope. The winter duck hunting is incredible on the lakes and Pinto Creek. In 2009, the owner completed a new perimeter high game fence and stocked the ranch with 150 high quality genetic whitetail to enhance the deer herd.
Minerals: There is no mineral production on this ranch. Owner will convey some minerals with the sale of the property.
