SOUTH UNIT DUCK CREEK RANCH – Lusk, Niobrara County, Wyoming: The South Unit of the Duck Creek Ranch is located 16 miles east of Lusk, Wyoming and consists 1,338± deeded acres and 880± State of Wyoming lease acres for a total of approximately 2,218 acres. The five pivots located throughout the ranch irrigate approximately 796.2 acres of which 770.5 acres are located on deeded land while the balance, consisting of 25.7 acres, is located on State of Wyoming land. In 2010, three of the pivots were planted in corn, one pivot was planted to winter wheat, and the fifth pivot was planted in alfalfa yielding three cuttings with an average of five tons of hay per acre. The South Unit has a large feedlot which was constructed in 2007 using continuous fence. The feed lot is capable of holding approximately 2,000 head of cattle. Numerous species of wildlife frequent the property including mule and whitetail deer, upland game birds, turkeys, and antelope.
